Tree house design

Tree House Design: See the Treehouse in Your Tree

Most people searching for a tree house design are parents or DIY builders planning a treehouse in their own backyard: a small cabin on a platform, a rope bridge, or a modern box on stilts when there is no strong tree. This AI tree house design tool starts from a picture: upload a photo of your tree or yard, or a sketch, and ArchitecturesAI renders it in the same view; then describe the platform, the cabin, the roof and the ladder in a sentence. The result is an idea picture. It is not a building plan, a structural check or a safety check of the tree.

A suburban backyard with a big old oak on a mulch ring in the lawn, a wood fence and trees beyond

Before: backyard with an old oak (AI-drawn stand-in for a photo)

The same oak with a square wood platform against the trunk, a small natural wood cabin with a green metal pyramid roof, windows and a door, a wood railing, a wooden ladder to the lawn and a rope ladder

After: a cabin treehouse in a backyard oak

An AI-generated pair made with our own image model. The "before" is an AI-drawn stand-in for a photo of a backyard, not a real site. Edit prompt used: "Build a treehouse in this oak tree: a square wood platform about three metres up in the branches, a small cabin on it with natural wood siding, a green metal pitched roof, one window and a small door, a wood railing around the platform, a ladder down to the lawn and a rope swing hanging from a lower branch. Keep the oak tree, the lawn, the fence, the trees behind and the camera angle exactly the same." What followed it: a square wood platform, a small cabin in natural wood siding with a green metal roof and a small door, a wood railing and a ladder down to the lawn; the oak, the lawn, the fence and the trees behind stayed. What differs from the prompt: it sits low on the trunk rather than up in the branches, the roof is hipped rather than pitched, the cabin has three windows rather than one, and a rope ladder hangs from the platform instead of a swing from a branch. We ran this one once.

Treehouse ideas people look for

Bob Vila, Homes & Gardens and MyBuilder show the same range of ideas. They also advise checking the tree's health and having a professional look at the structure before building.

  • A small cabin on a platform, often with an A-frame or pitched roof.
  • Posts or stilts when there is no tree strong enough.
  • Rustic reclaimed wood, or modern black cladding, steel and glass.
  • Several platforms joined by rope bridges, with ladders, swings and slides.

How to try a tree house design with ArchitecturesAI

  1. In the editor above, the mode is Render Architecture, the type is Residential and the style is Rustic. This mode has no prompt box: you start from an image.
  2. Under Select Image, upload a JPG or PNG: a daylight photo of your tree or your backyard, or a sketch of the treehouse you have in mind.
  3. Click Generate. Free accounts can only use Low quality (Medium and High are marked PRO). Sign in with Google or email when asked.
  4. To steer the result, click Edit Image on it (the box is called Edit Instructions) or use Custom Action, and describe the platform, the cabin, the roof, the ladder or stair, and the tree or posts it stands on and what must stay the same. Each edit is another render and uses credits. Run it a few times, since every result differs.
  5. The three examples below ran directly on our image model with the written instructions shown. They did not go through the editor above, so your own results will differ.

A treehouse in your own tree

A photo of the tree you want to use is the best starting point. Our example kept the oak and the yard and sat the platform lower than asked, which you can try to fix in Edit Image.

From a sketch, or on stilts with no tree

A sketch keeps its platforms and bridge and gains wood and leaves. With no big tree, a treehouse on posts is the usual answer.

A pencil line sketch of a treehouse around a big trunk: a round platform with a railing, a small gabled cabin with a round window, a rope bridge to a second small platform and ladders

Before: line sketch of a treehouse (AI-drawn stand-in for a hand sketch)

A photo-like render of the same treehouse in weathered grey cedar with a dark shingle roof, a brass-ringed round window, a rope-railed bridge, the tree in leaf and a green backyard

After: sketch turned into a cedar treehouse

Both images are AI-generated with our own image model. The sketch is an AI-drawn stand-in for a hand sketch, not a real drawing. Edit prompt used: "Turn this line sketch into a realistic daylight photo of the same treehouse: weathered cedar wood, a dark shingle roof, a brass round window, rope railings on the bridge, the big tree in leaf, a green backyard below. Keep the treehouse shape, the round window, the bridge, the second platform, the ladder and the camera angle exactly the same." What followed it: weathered cedar wood, a dark shingle roof, a round window with a brass ring, rope railings on the bridge, the tree in leaf and a green backyard; the shape, the bridge, the second platform and the ladder stayed as drawn. What differs from the prompt: nothing we could see. Added without being asked: a fence and shrubs. We ran this one once.
A small backyard with a lawn, young staked trees, wood fences, shrubs and a neighbouring house

Before: small backyard with no big tree (AI-drawn stand-in for a photo)

The same backyard with a small black-clad box room on four black steel posts, one large square window, a steep black stair with a railing and a sandpit beneath

After: a modern treehouse on stilts

An AI-generated pair made with our own image model. The "before" is an AI-drawn stand-in for a photo of a small backyard, not a real site. Edit prompt used: "Build a modern treehouse on stilts in this backyard: a small box-shaped room on four black steel posts about two metres up, clad in black vertical timber, one large square window, a slanted roof, a steep stair with a railing, and a sandpit under it. Keep the lawn, the young trees, the fence, the shed and the camera angle exactly the same." What followed it: a small box room on four black steel posts, black vertical cladding, a large square window, a steep stair with a railing and a sandpit under it; the lawn, the young trees and the fences stayed. What differs from the prompt: the roof is a shallow gable, not a slanted roof; the prompt mentions a shed, but this backyard has none. Added without being asked: a small side window. We ran this one once.

What the AI keeps and what it may change

  • Usually kept: the camera angle, the tree, the yard and the shape of a sketch.
  • Often different from what you asked: how high the platform sits, roof shapes, swings and ropes.
  • Often added without being asked: extra windows, fences and shrubs.
  • Never produced: building plans, fixings, load checks or a check of the tree.

Free tier and plans

You need a free account to render. New accounts get 2 free renders, and free renders carry a watermark. In India this site does not include free renders, so a paid plan is needed there. Weekly, monthly and yearly plans for more renders without the watermark are on the pricing page.

The backyards and the sketch on this page are AI-drawn stand-ins, not real. Each example was run directly on the model, not through the tool above.

Frequently asked questions

Can AI design a treehouse?

It can draw an idea picture of one in a photo of your tree or yard, or from your sketch. It does not check the tree, the loads or the fixings; ask an arborist or a builder for that.

What if I have no big tree?

Ask for a treehouse on posts or stilts. Our third example builds one on four steel posts in a small yard with only young trees.

Is there a text box in the editor?

The prompt box exists only in Architecture Generator mode. The editor above opens in Render Architecture, where you upload an image and change the result with Edit Image (Edit Instructions) or Custom Action.

Is it free to try?

Yes. After you sign in, a new account gets 2 free renders with a watermark, in Low quality. In India this site does not include free renders. Paid weekly, monthly and yearly plans are listed on the pricing page.
